THE GREAT LAKES OF MONGOLIA - 14 DAYS - 2000 KMS
A 2000 kms journey aimed at discovering and appreciating the variety of Mongolia landscape. From the Orkhon river valley to the Gobi desert. During this slow motion trip, you will enter the traditional gers to meet this great nomadic people.Trout fishing, horse riding and hikes can also be on the programme.
Be careful, the same village can have several different names which adds to the confusion. The best application is Mapsme which can be downloaded for free and whose names roughly match those of the map of Mongolia. Google maps is only recommended to find hotels. The names of the villages are often different
Enfin, un grand merci à Cheke qui a su mes donner les meilleurs conseils, ceux que l'on ne trouve pas dans les guides de voyage

Cheke was super helpful and friendly and nothing seemed to be a problem for her. We rented a tent, cooker etc and headed off on 2 bikes. We got lost leaving UB, but oddly enough didn't get too lost when we were out in the countryside. We had a paper map and GPS, but found it more useful to use the map and just ask for directions whenever we ran into a local. I can't recommend travelling by motorcycle through Mongolia and Cheke highly enough.
